I received my Master of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, which means I have a M.A. in Communication Studies and Philosophy, from California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock, California in 1991.

It was there that I taught courses in: Small Group Discussions, Intercultural and Interpersonal Communication, and Speech 101. In 1996, I moved to Washington State and began teaching Speech 101-Fundamentals of Public Speaking and English 101 and 102 at Walla Walla Community College.

I am currently teaching Speech 101 and Speech 102 (Oral and Interpersonal Communication. My main objective for a Speech 101 course is to help students overcome the fear of speaking in front of an audience. My main objective for Speech 102 is to teach students how to effectively communicate in interpersonal communication contexts and groups.

I also teach Philosophy at another institution of higher learning. In addition, I enjoy conducting research in Communication Studies, and I am currently published in several Communication Studies journals.

On a more personal note, I have 3 dogs and 3 cats, so 'yes' I am an animal lover. I also enjoy the woods and mountains and all the splendor and beauty they have to offer. I love to visit National Parks and Wolf Haven International. Other than traveling and seeing everything I can see before I leave this earth, scrapbooking is my only other hobby. I enjoy music, and I listen to anything from Andrea Bocelli to Nora Jones to Willie Nelson.

My husband and I volunteer in our community whenever we can. We feel that this is one way we can give back for all that we have been blessed with. We also love to travel, but we always take the scenic route or the road less traveled and have found some amazing places to visit in this great state of Washington.

I truly love teaching because of the students, and I make myself available to my students as much as possible.
