I teach seven courses at the college. Four are philosophy courses, and three are courses that provide an overview of the humanities in the western world.
I teach Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Asian Philosophy, and Symbolic Logic.
Introduction to Philosophy explores classical philosophies of life.
Critical Thinking explores thinking, language, and deductive and inductive arguments.
Ethics introduces the classic ideas about right and wrong
Asian philosophy explores the ways of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism
Symbolic Logic introduces propositional logic; truth tables, rules of inference, rules of replacement, and proofs. It can be taken as your Quantitative skills graduation requirement (Math 95 is a prerequisite).
Humanities 116 is an introduction to the Iliad and the Aeneid, the classic epics of ancient Greece and Rome
Humanities 117 explores the feminist secular tradition of the middle ages along with Renaissance painting and three of Shakespeare's plays.
Humanities 118 studies how rebellion, as described by Albert Camus, is reflected in the movies, novels, music, and paintings of the twentieth century.
I hope you take a philosophy course while you are here at WWCC. I believe you will also find a lot of satisfaction in any (or all!) of the Humanities courses that I teach.
