I teach four courses that I feel are most important to students. Two are philosophy courses, one is a course that provides an overview of the humanities in the western world and one is a film course.
I teach Philosophy 101, Introduction to Philosophy and Philosophy 120, Critical Thinking as well as Ethics, Asian Philosophy, and Symbolic Logic. In Philosophy 101 students explore and create their own philosophies of life. Critical Thinking (Philosophy 120) explores thinking from three angles. First we study thinking from the perspective of the brain and the body, with an emphasis on Bloom's Taxonomy, the most comprehensive study of critical thinking available. We then move into studying why thinking that is reasonable and fair assists with good communication and problem solving. This winter (2009) I teach Philosophy 120 Critical Thinking and Philosophy 101 Introduction to Philosophy, along with Humanities II, which is an experience with Courtly Love, the Dutch Masters, and Shakespeare. I will teach Symbolic Logic(Philosophy 220) in spring 2009. Symbolic Logic can be used as your math requirement for graduation. You need to complete Math 95 with a grade of C- or better to take this course. I also teach Philosophy 103 Asian Philosophy this spring (2009). The course studies The Upanishads, Buddhism, and Taosim. We meditate daily as a part of the course. I teach Humanities 103 in spring. The theme of that course is 'rebellion.' The central ideas in the course come from Albert Camus. I hope you can take several courses that I teach while you are attending WWCC.
